Bows are THE on trend motif this year, and I wanted to get in on some of that bow action! I used one of the bow designs from the Bow What Fun SVG cut files set, cut it in a rainbow of Christmas-y colors, and created a festive background for this pretty paper bow card.

For the “Sweet Holiday Wishes” sentiment, I created a .15 inch offset of the sentiment in Silhouette Studio and cut it from Dura-Lar. The translucent Dura-Lar is my favorite material to use when I cut stencils, and this is a great way to use up the smaller pieces of the sheet that are leftover after cutting the stencil.

I cut the “Sweet Holiday Wishes” sentiment from Pinkfresh Glacier Glitter Cardstock and love the sparkly touch it adds to the card. To glue the letters in place on the translucent offset, I lined up the offset over the area where the letters were cut from the glitter cardstock, taped it in place with low tack tape, and proceeded to glue the letters onto the offset using the cut out areas as a placement guide. This made the process much less fussy, and I was able to glue the entire sentiment in place in about 15 minutes.

I recently started using Concord & 9th cardstock for some of my cutting machine projects – it’s what I used for all of the bows in this project – and it cuts beautifully on my Silhouette Cameo. With a new-ish blade, the settings I’ve been using are a blade depth of 6 (single pass), force of 20, and speed of 4, and I’ve been getting really clean cuts. The color range of this cardstock is awesome, too! Highly recommended.

* Unfortunately, these don’t seem to be made anymore. I used them to adhere the sentiment piece to the card to give it a little bit of dimension, but you can also use white foam squares.
