DIY Foil Place Cards with the Heidi Swapp Minc (Free SVG Template)

DIY Foil Place Cards with the Heidi Swapp Minc

In this video tutorial, I’ll show you how to transform a stencil cut file into a graphic element, and we’ll use Silhouette Studio to create personalized place cards (download link for the free place card base cut file at the bottom of this post). Then, I’ll print the place cards using a laser printer and foil them with the Heidi Swapp Minc and Deco Foil in the color Pink Melon.

You can create all sorts of styles of personalized place cards using the free base cut file and graphic files or cut files that you repurpose as graphics. I think that these would be a great project for wedding receptions, anniversary, birthday, or even holiday parties because there are endless options for customizing.

In order to foil the print and cut files, you will need a laser printer. I have a color laser printer that’s 5+ years old, and I change the settings to black and white before I print anything that I’ll be foiling. There are several models of monochrome (black & white) laser printers that have good reviews and that are under $100 over on Amazon.com, too.

DIY Hot Foil Tips : Foil the place cards before you cut them. I’ve found that this gives me much better results. Also, be sure to cover the registration marks on your cardstock with pieces of printer paper or parchment paper to prevent them from melting onto the carrier sheet as you run them through the Minc (#4 heat setting).

As you’ll see in the video below, I forgot to do that, and the registration marks left areas of toner on my carrier sheet. If this happens, you can take a cotton ball that has some rubbing alcohol on it and rub off that toner. With a little elbow grease, the areas of toner come off completely, and your carrier sheet is good as new.

I used Hammermill Color Copy Digital Cover 80lb. cardstock for this project. I saw it recommended by Kerri Bradford, and I’ve been getting great results with it. It’s very reasonably priced, too. As of this post, it’s around $12 for 250 sheets over on Amazon.com.

Video Tutorial : 3D Paper Pineapple & Citrus Fruits (Free SVG & PDF Templates)

DIY 3D Paper Pineapple & Citrus Fruit Gift Toppers / Ornaments (Free SVG & PDF Templates Included)

Pineapples, along with citrus fruits, are the hottest things around this summer, and today I’m sharing a video tutorial for making these fun, three dimensional paper pineapples that you can use to embellish everything from gift packages to garlands to tropical-themed Christmas trees. You can download the free printable templates for the pineapples, as well as templates for an orange / grapefruit and lemon / lime below, and you’ll need just a few basic supplies to make bunches of these sweet, tropical decorations!

Make 3D Paper Pineapple & Citrus Fruit Decorations

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • colored paper ( I used Neenah Astrobrights Solar Yellow and Terra Green 24lb text weight paper)*
  • the FREE printable templates for this project (download below)
  • a Silhouette Cameo or similar digital die cutting machine OR, if you don’t have a die cutting machine, a printer and scissors to cut out by hand
  • craft glue
  • thread and a needle to make the hanger for the pineapple

* I recommend using text weight paper for this because cardstock is a bit too heavy and adds a lot of bulk to the finished project. It also makes assembly somewhat more difficult.

Quick & Easy Die Cut Mini Card + Free SVG Cut File

Quick & Easy Die Cut Mini Card + Free SVG Cut File | K.becca

I’ve been on a mini card kick lately, and I whipped up this die cut “hi” card (3″ x 3″) in a jiffy the other day using the reverse “hi” from the Hello Words & Phrases Die Cuts (Set 2) and the dots pattern from the Hello Digital Patterns set. I attached the patterned paper to the base with double-sided adhesive and used dimensional foam adhesive to attach the “hi” on top.

I created the “hi” square in Silhouette Studio by centering the reverse “hi” sentiment inside the smaller blank square. You can click on the image below to save the blank SVG cut file template; there’s so much that you can do with this little card!

The I Heart Ice Cream Collection + A Freebie

It’s been a while! During that time, I’ve moved back to my home state, searched for a house, bought a house, undertook a major renovation of said house, adopted two kitties and, let’s see, what else? Well, I’m sure I’ll be filling you in on the above here and there, but today I want to let you know that I’ve launched my first new collection in quite some time.

I’m celebrating all things ice cream with the “I Heart Ice Cream” collection, and this seems an appropriate time to introduce it since July is National Ice Cream Month. The collection includes a set of ice cream-themed patterns, die cuts, die cut ice cream cards, and clip art for both commercial and personal use. Previously, commercial licenses on my products weren’t available, but this is something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and I’m so excited to be able to share my new clip art and digital stamp products with designers who are looking for some fun elements to include in their creations.
