I’ve been having lots of fun making projects with the “I Heart Ice Cream” goodies, and this week I’ll be sharing a few of the ice creamy projects that I’ve made. First up is a pair of cards created with a combo of watercolor pencils, die cut phrases, and print and cut shapes.

These cards are slightly smaller than A2 size at 3 1/2″ x 5″. First, I cut a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock in half and scribbled in an area on the cardstock with three different colors of watercolor pencils (Loew-Cornell Viridian, Dark Chrome, and Salmon). I brushed over the area with a wet brush and set it aside to dry.

Then, I print and cut out several hearts and two ice cream cone shapes from the I Heart Ice Cream SVG Digital Stamps + Border Die Cuts set on my Silhouette, plus two of the “You’re a Treat” phrases from I Heart Ice Cream Phrases Die Cuts (Set 1). I glued the phrase two phrase layers together to give the sentiment some dimension, and I colored the ice cream cones in with the Salmon and Dark Chrome watercolor pencils. Since I printed the cones onto regular cardstock, I had to be careful not to go over the colored area too much with the wet brush because I didn’t want the cardstock to pill. I added some Diamond Stickles to the hearts, allowed the ice cream cones and the hearts to dry, and then attached them to the dried watercolor background with foam adhesive (the cones) and glue (the hearts).

Finally, I attached the watercolor piece to the card front with double-sided adhesive and attached the “You’re a Treat” phrase with glue.

For the “You’re Sweet” card, I used the same technique as above, with Dark Chrome and Dark Orange watercolor pencils on the creamsicle, but I blended the watercolor background a bit more and added dots of Diamond Stickles on the background.
