The Deco Foil Metallix Gels are a new product this year, and they’re currently available in 6 different colors. In this video, I’ll test out 4 of the gel colors ( Champagne Mist, White Pearl, Pure Gold, and Black Ice ) as stencil backgrounds for cards.
These gels all have a shimmery, metallic finish, and I really enjoyed working with them. They were nice and creamy, and they’re easy to work with and spread around on a stencil. I used the new Stencil Pal, also from Deco Foil, to work with the gels on all of the cards but one, and I really like how this tool made it much easier to scrape off excess gel and create a smoother surface with the gel. It’s a little too large to use with smaller stenciled areas, but if you make stenciled backgrounds and larger stenciled designs like this, then it’s perfect. You get 2 Stencil Pals in a package at under $10, which is a pretty good price, too.
I combined the Metallix Gel card backgrounds with print & cut images from the Cake Day Digital Stamps set and foiled many of the images using a Heidi Swapp Minc and a variety of different foils to coordinate with the different cards. The Minc Matte Champagne Foil is actually almost a perfect match for the Metallix Champagne Mist Gel, so that was awesome!
